Most of the time you will want to use the Unconstrained option so you can make the shape easily fit around the part of the photo you are trying to crop, but if you want the shape to stay uniform where you can’t stretch it out, then you can choose the Defined Proportions option from the drop down list. The Feather option can be used to give a feathered look to the edges of the crop.

If you have something that you would like to crop but using the normal cropping method will crop out part of what you want to save (because it might not be straight in the image), then you can use the Perspective Crop Tool to get that taken care of. For example, in figure 5.6, I want to crop the photo so only picture that is on the way is showing, but since it’s not level, my cropping tool won’t give me the results I’m looking for.
